DIAmond Special Test
Though originally intended for Approved Driving Instructors, the DIAmond Special Test is open to anyone with a full driving licence. Of the available driving tests that require that you reach the standards laid out in the DSA's Driving Manual, it is currently the most stringent measure of driving ability available in the uk. It follows the same procedure as the DIAmond Advanced Motorist Test but instead of six faults, only two (provided they are not the same) will be acceptable for a pass. The test also lasts for 90 minutes instead of 60.

So what will the examiner be looking for on the DIAmond Special Test?

Quite simply the 'perfect drive' in total safety.

Everything you do from the time you enter the car is tested. Your deportment at the wheel, the way you meet and treat other road users, the way you look at and read the road ahead and the way you then plan your driving accordingly. Candidates are examined on all the exercises, including a reverse park behind another vehicle to within one and a half cars lengths as oppose to two cars lengths as on the normal 'L' test. A short commentary drive is also expected to help the examiner assess your hazard recognition skills.

We would start the course with an assessment lesson to gauge how many hours driving tuition you would be likely to need to reach the required standard. Contact Bowker Driving Tuition for further information.
